Water Detoxing And Why It’s, Like, So Quiche *wink, wink, it’s better to be quiche than scrambled*

Wipe the judgement off your face and hear me out...

Water fasting, when done in healthy moderation, is scientifically proven to help regenerate cell growth, clear out years of waste from clogged bowels, may reverse various diseases, and helps to clear the mind of brain fog and other mental ailments such as headaches, anxiety, and disorganization.

Ya see there?!

Water fasting can provide some powerful results!

But a proper, healthy water fast isn't done all willy-nilly fast and silly. A well-intended water fast should be done with preparation and good intentions. It takes three, well-planned phases to ensure that your water fast goes...swimmingly? I wanna say swimmingly.

STEP 1 - PREPARE YOUR BODY

To get ready for your water fast, spend at least three days to one week detoxing before you start your fast. Stop eating any greasy, salty foods, all sugars, any intoxicants, and any overly processed foods. This will give you the cleanest slate possible to detox as much as possible.

STEP 2 - PREPARE TO FAST FOR 3-5 DAYS WITH PURIFIED WATER

If you don't have access to healthy drinking water, or you know your city water supply is less than pure, purchase at least 10 gallons of water per day for your fast. I typically schedule a 3-day fast, once per month, and usually, by the third day, I'm happy to go for another 2 days, making my fast a total of 5-days. In that instance, I plan to have 50 gallons of purified water in my house, or easily accessible nearby.

If this is your first fast, don't step to me with that "anything you can do I can do longer," nonsense. Like, sure, Betty, maybe you can. But just in case you can't, prepare to start short with a 3-day fast and extend it to 5-days  if you're feeling good after that.

STEP 3 - PREPARE FOR A 48-HOUR RE-FEEDING PERIOD

When you re-incorporate solid foods back into your system, take it slow. There is no binge eating when you get to re-feeding!

You'll also want to be conscientious of what you choose to eat. Most people who water fast tend to crave healthy food when they come out of it. Ahh, the power of a good fast! It clears out the cells and recalibrates the taste buds, all in one swoop.

When I'm done fasting, I like to re-feed with a light salad and a piece of fruit. I avoid protein for at least 24 hours, as a personal preference. I find protein too heavy on my system. However, if I have a protein powder nearby that I enjoy, I might make a small protein shake to go with my salad.

If you've been feeling foggy, groggy, fussy, or grumpy, consider giving yourself the blessing of a nice water fast and see how well you sleep after that.
